A White Christmas

Can you believe we had a white Christmas in Texas this year? I felt like a little girl when I first saw it falling. The kids were napping and David and I were relaxing when I read a Facebook post about it snowing. I thought they must be on vaca. Then out of the corner of my eye I caught a glimpse of the giant flakes!

When the kids woke up we showed them the snow through the window. Both of them just stood there starring out into the yard. I can't help but wonder what was going through their minds? David started taking pictures to send to his family. We never dreamed that it would keep coming and sticking all afternoon.

Christmas Morning

This was my very first year to host any of our family traditions. I really wanted to host Christmas morning breakfast, stockings, & presents.
A lot of prep work was necessary to ensure a low key and relaxed morning. You can read about all of that here.
I woke up about 8:00 when Valentine came to ask me if Santa had come. I opened my eyes, looked at my phone, and text everyone who was supposed to be here at 8:30 -take your time we are all still sleeping, ah! Valentine and I walked to the living room and she saw the gifts and was jumping up and down, “Santa came!” She didn’t head for the presents. Her self control was impressive.
We started breakfast and everyone began to show up/wake up. I wanted our morning to go in this order: stockings-eat-presents! It did. It did 😉
V was most excited that in her stocking she got some lipgloss! I loved watching 2.0 as his eyes lit up when he realized there were toys and candy in his stocking!
Breakfast was warm and delicious and ready right on que. I had the table ready beforehand. We enjoyed each other and laughed as my dad kept saying to the girls, “Are you ready to open your presents!” They’d jump out of their seats and we had to calm them down.
Valentine’s favorite present was her. “Bic-a-pickle” (bicycle) and Valor’s favorite was his giant box and his scooter. We spent the entire day today cleaning while the kids rode around on their their bikes in the living room.
